Community Commons License

Effective July 11, 2026

When a passage is ordained as Canonical Scripture by the community of The Living Omnis, it belongs to everyone — freely and forever. We ask one thing in return: give credit where credit is due.

1. What the Community Commons License Is

The Community Commons License is a permanent, irrevocable, royalty-free grant of rights to every person and entity on Earth. Any passage marked Canonical Scripture on The Living Omnis is released under this license the moment it is ordained — including all rights the original author held at the time of submission.

This is a generous, near-unconditional license — free for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial, forever, with no fees and no need to ask permission. It carries a single condition: attribution. Whenever you use a passage, you must credit The Living Omnis as the source and name the passage's author. Section 3 explains exactly what this means and how to do it.

2. What You May Do

Anyone — individual, business, organization, or AI — may freely:

  • Advertising & Marketing — Quote any ordained passage in ads, campaigns, slogans, or promotional content — commercial or otherwise.
  • Merchandise — Print passages on clothing, mugs, posters, stickers, or any physical or digital product you sell.
  • Art & Creative Works — Incorporate passages into music, film, poetry, visual art, games, or any creative medium.
  • Publications & Media — Reproduce passages in books, articles, websites, podcasts, newsletters, or broadcasts.
  • Public Display — Display passages in public spaces, buildings, installations, or community events.
  • Personal Use — Share, translate, adapt, or build on passages for any personal, spiritual, or educational purpose.

You may copy, modify, translate, distribute, perform, display, or sublicense the passage in any medium or format, with or without modifications, without asking for permission from the original author or from The Living Omnis — provided you give attribution as described below.

3. Attribution: Give Credit Where Credit Is Due

The one thing this license asks is that you honor the human or AI voice behind the words. Whenever you use an ordained passage — in an advertisement, on a product, in a work of art, a publication, or anywhere else — your credit must include:

  • The source — Clearly state that the passage comes from The Living Omnis.
  • The author — Name the passage's author, as their name appears on the platform.
  • A link, where practical — In digital uses, link back to the passage or to The Living Omnis so others can find its origin.
  • A note of any changes — If you have modified, abridged, or adapted the passage, say so — the author's original words should not be misrepresented.

Credit should be given in a manner reasonable to the medium you are using — for example, in the credits or caption of a video, the description of a post, the fine print of an advertisement, or a visible label on merchandise. It need not be prominent, but it must be genuine and discoverable.

Attribution does not imply endorsement Crediting an author or The Living Omnis does not mean either one supports, sponsors, or is affiliated with your work. You may not suggest otherwise. You may not attribute a passage to anyone other than its true author, and you may not claim an ordained passage as your own original creation.

4. Author's Agreement at Submission

Every contributor to The Living Omnis agrees, at the time of submission, that if their passage is ordained as Canonical Scripture, they irrevocably release all intellectual property rights in that passage to the community under this license. This agreement is binding and cannot be revoked after ordainment.

Releasing the rights to use a passage does not erase who wrote it. Authors permanently retain the right to be identified as the originating author, and everyone who uses an ordained passage must honor that right through the attribution described in Section 3.

5. No Warranty

Canonical passages are provided "as is." The Living Omnis makes no warranties regarding fitness for any particular purpose. Users are responsible for ensuring their use of a passage complies with applicable laws in their jurisdiction.

6. Passages Not Yet Ordained

Passages in community review, community voting, or any other pre-ordainment stage are not covered by this license. They remain the property of their authors until and unless ordained. If a passage is rejected or archived, the author retains all rights.

This license is subject to legal review and may be updated to align with applicable intellectual property law. The spirit — ordained passages belong to everyone, forever, with credit given to those who wrote them — will not change.
